English Rhythm&Blues band formed in the early 1960s in Newcastle-on-Tyne (UK).
Line-up: Eric Burdon (vocals); Alan Price (keyboards); Hilton Valentine (guitar); Chas Chandler (bass); John Steel (3) (drums). After Alan Price left and the band further imploded, Burdon moved to America where he started a new line-up as Eric Burdon & The Animals, also known as Eric Burdon & The New Animals (1966-1969). Later reunions have taken place in various line-ups, see also Animals II and Animals & Friends.
